June 30: Life Speaking

Image
Ann Marie Roach Ephesus SDA Church  Theme: Blessing Instead of Cursing Scripture: James 3:9-10 "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be." In my very noble profession, I often find myself proud of the fact that I chose the same profession as Jesus. He, too, was a teacher. But when the reality of the job hits, especially the parts that require patience and grace, it’s easy to forget that Jesus also had to deal with some of the most stubborn, disobedient students. And he did it in the most loving, redemptive way. One morning, as I was doing my usual business at work, a student jumped in front of me and shouted, “Ms. Roach, are you ready for me?!” I was not thinking about WWJD, What Would Jesus Do. Instead, I was taken aback. Honestly, I had been secretly praying all year that this student would not end up in my...

June 29: Submit to God, Resist the Devil

Image
Theme: The Battle for the Mind Sharon Campbell-Danvers Shepherdess CIC Kings & Northside SDA James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." – Proverbs 4:23 Our minds are a battlefield. Every day, we wrestle with thoughts—some uplifting, some destructive. The enemy seeks to flood our minds with past hurts, present conflicts, and emotions that lead us away from God’s peace. He whispers lies, reminding us of offenses, stirring up anger, and planting seeds of bitterness. If we are not careful, these thoughts can take root and influence our actions. But does this mean we are doomed to live in this constant struggle? No! God has given us the power to overcome. 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to "take every thought captive to obey Christ." This means we don’t have to entertain every thought that enters our minds. Instead, we must consciously ch...

June 28: Enduring Temptation

Image
Donett Chung, Family Life & Communication leader,  Newlands SDA Church   Theme: Overcoming Life’s Temptation James 1:12 - “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. " Temptation is a constant battle in life. Whether it’s the lure of unhealthy habits, the pull of doubt, or the pressure to compromise our values, we all face moments where we must choose between fleeting desires and lasting faithfulness.  James 1:12 reminds us that perseverance leads to blessing, not just in this life, but for eternity. Temptation often appears appealing, disguising itself as something harmless or even beneficial. Like in the Garden of Eden, where the forbidden fruit seemed desirable, temptation lures us into thinking that compromising our faith "just this once" isn’t a big deal. But small compromises can lead to spiritual weakness . Enduring means recognizing deception and ch...

June 27: Standing Firm in Faith

Image
Nardia Henry Shepherdess, CIC  Ephesus and Maranatha SDA Churches  T heme: Avoiding doubt and double-mindedness James 1:6-8  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.    For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.    A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Doubt flooded my mind as I gazed upon the person I love so dearly, my confidant, my friend, my role model. As she prepared for a doctor's appointment, I was struck by the profound connection between the mind and body. She had lost over 100 pounds in just one year, and yet, despite her initial effort to fight so hard, depression had stolen her joy and will to live. I had tried everything to help her; pep talks, counseling, reading Scripture over her, and even recreational therapy but nothing seemed to work. In that moment, the words from James 1:6-8 came to mind: "But let him ask in f...

June 26: Asking For Wisdom

Image
Theme: Seeking God's Guidance Daily  Nadine Tomlinson- Brown  Ephesus SDA Scripture: ‘’If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”– James 1:5 Dear Sisters in Christ, Today, we focus on the essential theme of seeking God’s guidance daily, grounded in the beautiful promise found in James 1:5. As women of faith, we often juggle many responsibilities—family, church, work, and our personal lives. I want to share my journey, which reflects the importance of asking for wisdom and relying on God’s guidance. For many years, I was deeply involved in my church and community activities. I took on roles in ushering, serving as treasurer, leading the stewardship program, directing the Women’s Ministry, and even being the ASI President. You could say that if there was a need, Sis Brown was there to fill it. Alongside these commitments, I was also managing the challenges of raising my teenage boys, dealing wi...

June 25: Handbag of Blessings

Image
Theme:  Giving and Receiving Dr. Terry-Ann Robinson Kings SDA Church  Key Text   “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6: 38 NKJV   Last year, I invested in a big handbag, mainly for work. It has my laptop, mouse, pointer, glasses case, slippers, shades, pens, pencils, external hard drive, lip gloss, purse, journal, umbrella, and the list goes on. It weighs a ton, but I have everything I need in it.    What I love about my handbag is that it not only looks good, but it also has many compartments. I have a little place for everything I need throughout the day.    As we go through life on this earth, God has given us everything we need to make it through. When was the last time you checked your handbag of blessings?    The designer of the bag customizes each...

June 24 The Shield of Lip Balm

Image
Sis. Marlene Harry, Shepherdess Coordinator, Cayman Islands Conference  Theme: Guarding Your Words and Your Heart “ Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”  — Psalm 141:3 Protection for Our Words Lip balm serves a simple but important purpose—it protects our lips from becoming dry, cracked, and painful. Without it, exposure to wind, sun, or cold can cause our lips to become damaged. In the same way, our words need protection. Without care, they can become sharp, unfiltered, and harmful to others. David’s prayer in Psalm 141:3 is a reminder that we need God’s help in guarding our speech. He understood the power of words and how easily they could lead to sin. How often do we speak in frustration, say things we regret, or allow negative words to slip out carelessly? Just as we apply lip balm to keep our lips from becoming damaged, we must seek God’s wisdom daily to guard our speech. The Power of Our Words Words have the power to build up or tear dow...

June 23: STITCH OF ENDURANCE

Image
Galatians 6: Theme: Sewing Faithfulness into Your Life   My childhood memories of my mother’s sewing machine, with its unique rhythmic clicking and whirring sound as the needle moved back and forth, have always stirred important recollections of times in my upbringing that have helped to shape  my character. Mommy’s machine usually had a slight vibration as the sound got louder whenever she was working faster.  The steady sound of the old motor blending with the sound of the needle had always been a symbol of endurance and faith for me.  The sound has always reminded me of the great potential and opportunities that lay in my mother's hands, who I believe is the best dressmaker alive today.  In short, my mommy is the full embodiment of the phrase the s titch es of endurance .  I grew up literally under the sewing machine.  My mommy would often look for me, and I would be found sitting or playing at her feet, right on the sewing machine pedal....

June 22: The Journal of God's Promises

Image
The Journal of God’s Promises Theme: Write Down God-Given Dreams Key Verse: Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NIV) Jusene Brown, Kings SDA,  Education Leader “Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets….. For the revelation awaits an appointed time… Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’” As children, many of us delighted in creating wishlists for birthdays or Christmas. We would carefully write down what we hoped for, trusting that our parents would do their best to fulfill our dreams. That simple act of writing was more than just fun it was an act of faith. Our Heavenly Father invites us into a similar practice. In Habakkuk 2:2-3, God instructs the prophet to write down the vision. This wasn’t just a suggestion, it was a divine strategy to hold on to hope. God wants us to write down our dreams and desires, especially those aligned with His will, and trust in His perfect timing. Though the wait may be long, every promise of God...

June 21: The Strength of a Hairpin

Image
Deneisha Campbell-Davy Kings SDA Church Theme: Small but Mighty in God's Hands Scripture: Judges 4:21 (NIV) “But Jael, Heber’s wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.” My Story: In my early years as a preschool teacher, I thought my job was small and insignificant, as people saw preschool as a place where they would leave their children for daycare and play. It was never seen as an institution of learning. Early childhood practitioners were surprisingly not seen as teachers. However, after serving the youngest persons of our community for over 20 years, I see my now young adults, grown and doing great things for themselves. I feel a sense of pure joy. I had the opportunity to shape the minds of the smallest humans in our society. My encouragement for you today is, whatever you find your hands to do, do it with all your might, as God can use “the leas...
