The Journal of God’s Promises

Theme: Write Down God-Given Dreams

Key Verse: Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NIV)

“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets….. For the revelation awaits an appointed time… Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’”

As children, many of us delighted in creating wishlists for birthdays or Christmas. We would carefully write down what we hoped for, trusting that our parents would do their best to fulfill our dreams. That simple act of writing was more than just fun it was an act of faith.

Our Heavenly Father invites us into a similar practice. In Habakkuk 2:2-3, God instructs the prophet to write down the vision. This wasn’t just a suggestion, it was a divine strategy to hold on to hope.

God wants us to write down our dreams and desires, especially those aligned with His will, and trust in His perfect timing.

Though the wait may be long, every promise of God has an appointed time. It may seem delayed to us, but it will come to pass. God’s Word never fails.

Challenge: Start your own Journal

1. Write down your desires and dreams (those you believe God has placed in your heart.)

2. Next, write down promises from the Bible. Here are some to get you started:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:Hebrew

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

3. Pray over your journal regularly, claiming God’s promises in faith and patience.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank You for Your promises that never fail. Help us to trust You more each day. Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, and remind us that every promise has its perfect time. Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11   I must admit I don't like waiting or uncertainty. I am one of those people who make a list for everything, and then I have a list to keep track of my list. I work very strictly with time, and I mentally take quite a few "chill pills" to control my emotions when things don't go according to plan. I was partially laid up with a broken ankle, having just shattered my beautiful flowerpot. At the same time, vacuuming, and then, minutes later, discovered that my unlocked car had been ransacked during the night. I glanced at my husband resting on the sofa. He remained unbothered by my recounting of events. I then contacted our older son. While on the phone, my husband calmly said, "Ask him to come take me to the hospital." There was no complaint of pain, no urgency in his voice—just a quiet request.
