“As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear. ”
Proverbs 25:12 KJV
James 1:5
We are advised to seek wisdom from the Lord as He will freely give .
Have you ever faced a problem that felt too heavy to carry—like trying to lift a car on your own?
In those moments, when the weight feels unbearable, sometimes you remember that there’s a source of wisdom you can turn to. Or maybe someone reminds you to pray about it and seek His will.
A few years ago, I found myself in such a situation. I had a difficult decision to make, and everything—and everyone—was encouraging me to go in a different direction than I felt I should. When I became a Christian, an elder named Sister Gregory told me something that has always stayed with me: “To be a Christian requires a made-up mind.” That means that even when I’m wading through the muck or crawling through the mess, I must never forget to whom I belong. I can always reach out to Him.
In the midst of that tumultuous situation, filled with anger and confusion, I called out to my Dad—my Heavenly Father. I spent the entire night in prayer, asking Him what I was supposed to do and begging Him to show me the path I should take. The next morning, as I prepared for what I thought would be a battle, His voice gently said, “This is not your battle to fight.”
And that was it. I had to choose. Despite my friends’ disappointment, I chose to let go—no fuss, no fanfare—just a quiet release to my Father, letting Him decide the path. Was it easy? Actually, it was easier than I could have imagined. The anger melted away, and peace found me.
Here’s the thing: sometimes we ask for advice but don’t actually follow it—especially when it doesn’t align with what we want to do. But true wisdom isn’t always wrapped in what feels good or looks easy. Still, it never fails. Wisdom leads to life and peace.
Often, the path God presents seems hard. Uncertainty lurks around every corner. But trusting Him in everything brings calm even when the storm rages.
Prayer
Father, please help this child of Yours to seek Your will always—even in the times I don’t feel like I should. May I listen closely to the advice You give, and move forward in obedience, trusting Your direction and not my own. Amen.
Amen.
