September 21: Be Still

Image
Be Still “Quite Confidence in God” Key Text:  He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God.’ Psalm 46:10 (NIV) Jusene Brown Kings Seventh-day Adventist CHurch Being still is something we all struggle with. How can I be still when the storm is raging? When I am being mistreated? When everything seems to be falling apart, and I feel like I am drowning? How can I remain still in moments like these? We are familiar with the story of Jesus and His disciples on the boat. In the middle of a fierce storm, while waves crashed and threatened to sink them, Jesus was asleep. In panic, the disciples cried out, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (Mark 4:38). Jesus rose and rebuked the wind and the waves, and the storm obeyed. But what stands out most is His rebuke to the disciples: “Where is your faith?” I, too, have had my own moments like that when the cares of life overwhelmed me, and it felt as though God was silent, as if He were asleep while I was sinking. But in that place of fea...

September 20: Why Me?

Image
Why Me?  Chosen Despite Insecurities   Exodus 3:11-  “ But Moses said to God, ' Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?'   Exodus 3:11 NKJV Sis. Evelyn Linton Kings Seventh-day Adventist Church   What is your purpose on Earth? Do you know that you are a unique model with a unique mission, specially crafted to fulfill a plan that God has ordained for you? (Jer. 1:5)   Have you ever felt that God has given you an assignment too big for you, one that triggers your worst fear or your most feared Pharaoh? I have felt that way several times - afraid to accept an assignment or in fear of the ‘ Pharaohs’ that come with them. I ’ m tempted to ask in those moments, Lord, are you sure you have the right person? Don ’ t you think that Brother X is better able to do it?   Moses felt this way, too, but God never makes a mistake about who you are and what He wants to do with and through yo...

September 19: "Speak, Lord, I’m Ready to Listen"

Image
: "Speak, Lord, I’m Ready to Listen"   Main Scripture: "And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, 'Samuel! Samuel!' And Samuel said, 'Speak, for your servant hears.'" — 1 Samuel 3:10 (ESV)  Arlene Johnson McLeod Kings Seventh-day Adventist Have you ever felt like you're waiting for God to speak, but the silence is deafening? We often get caught up in the noise of life—busy schedules, personal struggles, and the constant pull of technology. In the midst of it all, God still speaks, but the question is, are we ready to listen? In 1 Samuel 3:10, we see a young Samuel, a servant in the temple, answering God’s call with a simple but powerful response: “Speak, for your servant hears.” Samuel had been trained to serve, but he had not yet fully recognized God's voice. It took Eli, the priest, to guide him to realize that it was the Lord calling him. Sometimes, like Samuel, we can get so caught up in the rhythm of life and our own desi...

September 18: Look Up

Image
Theme Lift Your Eyes to the Helper Scripture I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1 to 2I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1 to 2. Many of us were taught to walk with our heads up. Hanging heads often signal defeat. David shows us a better way. In a hard season he chose to lift his eyes. He turned his gaze from his trouble to his God. David looked upward, but his trust was not in scenery or height. His confidence rested in the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. We can admire high places, yet only the Most High can truly help.  On Grand Cayman we do not have hills, yet we know what it means to face something that looks bigger than us. Bills that are due. A diagnosis that unsettles. A relationship that feels stuck. A test that seems impossible. We search inside ourselves. We loo...

September 17: Beauty from Brokenness

Image
Key Text: “to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”  Isaiah 61:3 Dr. Terry Ann Robinson, Kings SDA Church Have you ever been broken?  I don’t mean upset or disappointed. I mean truly broken. Something, someone, or maybe a series of events caused that deep emotional pain that may manifest itself even in physical pain.   Often, being broken is a result of an expected situation. A crash of circumstances that causes your heart to be shattered into a million pieces.   During a season of brokenness, nothing makes sense. The lemons in life are too bitter to make lemonade. You feel nobody understands, and nobody may even care. Your tears may have been your meat day and night ( Psalm 42:3).   The enemy of your soul whispers words of dis...

September 16: Joy Comes in the Morning

Image
Joy Comes in the Morning  Key Text: “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 Dr. Terry-Ann Robinson,  Kings SDA Church  My grandmother was the best. Every week, she walked with candy in her purse to church. As I walked past her in church, she would stretch her hand, and in perfect sync, a mint would transfer from her hand to mine without anybody noticing. I got my favorite ones every sabbath. The small white one with red lines around it. Not the tough one, the one that melts in your mouth.  She was a dressmaker. She not only made regular dresses, but she also made several wedding dresses. Huge fancy ones that required her to sit for days sewing by hand beautiful pieces of lace appliqué. Some dresses were so big that they could not fit in the sewing room. She laid them in the living room or on the bed, ensuring she got the perfect layout to add the pearls.  Many o...

September 15: Wrestling for your Blessing

Image
Scripture: Gen. 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. Shirlette Facey Kings SDA Church There was a time I wrestled with God about a situation that was very close to my heart. My family had been living in the states for a few years but it was coming time for our contract to end. I wasn’t ready to go back home.  I was convinced this was where I should be. Everything in me said this was where I was supposed to be. I prayed. I begged. I even went on a full week of fasting, clinging to God in the same way Jacob clung to Him at the river Jabbok. Like Jacob, I said in my heart, “Lord, I will not let You go unless You bless me.” But things didn’t turn out the way I expected. The opportunity to stay didn’t materialize. At first, I was disappointed and confused. Hadn’t I done everything? Hadn’t I sought Him earnestly? Why would He withhold this opportunity? It was only afterward that I realized God had something differe...

September 14: Safe Under His Wings

Image
Safe Under His Wings Scripture: “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Psalm 91:4 Arlene Johnson Kings Seventh-day Adventist Church Life can often feel overwhelming, with storms of fear, challenges, and uncertainty pressing against us. Yet God, in His infinite love, provides a safe haven for us under His wings. Picture the tender image of a mother bird protecting her chicks. Her wings are strong, shielding them from harm, yet soft, offering comfort and peace. This is the same kind of shelter our Heavenly Father offers, a place of safety and rest in His presence. God’s promise in Psalm 91:4 reminds us that He is not distant or uninvolved in our struggles. His faithfulness is our shield, His love is our covering, and His grace is our refuge. He calls us to trust Him, to run to His wings when the storms of life rage on. As Isaiah 41:10 declares, “So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be ...

September 13: Cover You

Image
“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” (Psalm 91:4) Sholey Thomas Kings Seventh-day Adventist Church June 1 marked the beginning of the rainy season, known as Hurricane Season. On July 4, Cayman experienced Hurricane Beryl, a Category 3 storm. I was feeling unwell with the flu, but I was still thankful for the forced rest. I also knew I would need to bring my dog inside to keep her safe throughout the storm. The rain poured and the wind howled, yet my family and I were nestled safely indoors, and so was my dog. During the night, I decided to take her outside during the small breaks in the wind and rain. Finally, when morning came, I took her on one last walk, and it was then that I discovered something remarkable. Near the edge of the road, half hidden in the bushes, was a chicken. She was drenched, her feathers completely soaked, and her eyes were barely open, as though she were exhausted and a...

September 12: Wake Up – Awaken to God’s Call

Image
Wake Up – Awaken to God’s Call Main Verse "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." – Ephesians 5:14 Arlene McLoed Kings Seventh-day Adventist CHurch As women, it’s easy to slip into “autopilot.” Between caring for others, carrying responsibilities, and striving to meet expectations, we can unknowingly drift into spiritual sleep. Our hearts get tired, our dreams feel buried, and our walk with God can feel quiet. But Paul’s words in Ephesians 5:14 are like an alarm clock for the soul: Wake up. It’s not just about getting out of bed in the morning—it’s about shaking off spiritual drowsiness and stepping fully into the life God has for us. Think of the women at the tomb in Luke 24:1–10. They went expecting to care for a dead body, but instead they were met with resurrection life. They were the first to hear the announcement: “He is not here; He is risen!” They woke up to a whole new reality—and they ran to tell the others. God is calling us to awake...

September 11: A Covenant, Not a Contract

Image
Her Marriage and Relationship A Covenant, Not a Contract Malachi 2:14 Marriage as a Holy Covenant By Sharon Campbell Danvers | Daughters Arise Ministries Scripture Focus: “You ask, ‘Why?’ It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.” Malachi 2:14 (NIV) Marriage is not merely a legal contract. It is a sacred covenant, and God Himself is the witness to that covenant. This verse from Malachi powerfully reminds us that marriage carries profound spiritual significance. It is not simply a union based on convenience, romance, or mutual benefit. It is a divine agreement, one that demands faithfulness, honour, and accountability before God. Sadly, we have seen the sanctity of marriage diminished in many ways. People enter into marriage for all the wrong reasons: to have children, to secure legal status, to beat the biological clock, to silence socie...

September 10: Serving Each Other with Joy

Image
Her Marriage and Relationship By Sharon Campbell Danvers | Daughters Arise Ministries Serving Each Other with Joy Galatians 5:13 Serving Selflessly Scripture Focus: “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NIV) Devotional Reflection: A few years ago, I pulled up at a petrol station and waited patiently to be served. After some time, I became concerned. No one approached me. I waited, watching as other drivers who arrived after me were quickly attended to. Frustrated, I inquired about the reason for this apparent injustice. The attendant calmly pointed out that I had parked at a self-service pump. I had never used one before. I felt humbled as I reversed and moved to the correct pump. But that moment stayed with me. It may seem humorous, but it raises a deeper question: How many of us enter marriage expecting to be served, only to find ourselves waiti...

September 9:Prayers That Protect Your Marriage

Image
Prayers That Protect Your Marriage Ecclesiastes 4:12 Praying Together By Sharon Campbell Danvers | Daughters Arise Ministries Scripture Focus: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV) When building a house, one of the first considerations is how to protect it, such as with walls, fences, gates, and alarms. We do the same with our children, covering them in prayer before school, before travel, before life’s big moments. But how often do we apply that same level of spiritual protection to our marriages? Too often, when marital difficulties arise, our first reaction is to complain. We talk to friends, family, or even suffer in silence. But what if our first response was to pray? Prayer is one of the most powerful tools God has given us to nurture and protect our relationships. When we invite God into the centre of our marriages, we activate spiritual covering and divine perspective. Prayer soft...

September 8: Bearing Each Other’s Burdens

Image
Her Marriage and Relationship Bearing Each Other’s Burdens Galatians 6:2 Helping Each Other By Sharon Campbell Danvers | Daughters Arise Ministries Scripture Focus: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIV) Devotional Reflection: Marriage is all about burden bearing. Life brings seasons of joy, laughter, and trials that stretch our patience, faith, and strength. Every couple will face moments that require them to lean into each other, not away. Jesus invites us to cast our burdens on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). In our marriages, He calls us to reflect that same love by helping to carry one another’s burdens. These moments, though difficult, are often when our trust in God deepens and our relationship with Him is strengthened. Burdens can either drive a wedge between a couple or draw them closer to Christ and each other. That is why building our marriages on solid spiritual foundations is so impo...
