January 5: Walking in Faith
Walking in Faith
Theme: Choosing Faith Over Fear in Difficult Times
Author: Jackson Stephanie
Romans 8:25
Paul said, "But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."
Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see. On the other hand, fear is also a belief in the unseen—believing that someone or something dangerous is likely to cause pain or harm. These two forces are often at odds, pulling us in opposite directions during life's most challenging moments.
Reflecting on my faith journey, I recall a particularly trying time after experiencing two miscarriages. When I became pregnant again, the doctors delivered grim news: the pregnancy was unlikely to succeed. I was diagnosed with placenta previa, a condition fraught with complications, and was placed on strict bed rest.
I found myself standing at the crossroads of faith and fear. The fear of losing another child was overwhelming, but faith whispered that God could save this one.
During those months, I struggled to exercise the gift of faith that God had given me. I prayed fervently, battling against fear and clinging to the hope that God would intervene. I held onto His promise in Jeremiah 32:27, where He declares, "Is there anything too hard for me?"
I knew that nothing was too difficult for the Lord. With this assurance, I chose faith over fear, even as I faced complicated and uncertain months ahead. My prayers were filled with desperation and trust, and God came through in His mercy. He saved my child.
This experience taught me that faith can triumph over fear in our darkest moments when we choose to rely on God's promises.
As you navigate life's trials, I encourage you to reach out in faith and touch the hem of Jesus' garment. Whatever your circumstances, remember that nothing is beyond His ability to handle. Choose faith over fear and walk boldly, knowing that God will see you through. Just walk in faith!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the powerful reminder that faith is the anchor we hold onto in the storms of life. Lord, when we face fear and uncertainty, help us to choose faith, trusting in Your promises and infinite power. Strengthen our hearts to remember that nothing is too hard for You. May we walk boldly, confident that You are with us in every step. Teach us to cast our fears aside and cling to You, knowing that Your grace is sufficient. Thank You for the assurance that You work all things for our good. In Jesus' name, we pray. Ame
