  June 30 – Faithful Is He That Promised Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" Sharon Campbell-Danvers  As I reflect on this verse, it takes on a deeper meaning for me. The foundation of our confidence is found in the simple but powerful truth: "for he is faithful that promised." God's faithfulness is unchanging. Human promises may be broken, forgotten, delayed, or abandoned, but God's promises are secured by His perfect character. He cannot lie, fail, or turn away from His word. What He has spoken, He will accomplish in His perfect timing and according to His perfect will. One of the realities of life is seeing how quickly people can change. Memories fade, loyalties shift, and promises once spoken with sincerity can be forgotten. Safe in the Arms of Jesus Sharon Campbell-Danvers  "As we reflected on the hymn 'What a Friend We Have in Jesus,' the line that resonated most deeply with me was, 'In His arms He'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.' Immediately, a picture came to mind of a crying baby who finds instant comfort when lifted into the arms of a loving parent. This image became the foundation of my reflection."   He Will Keep You in Safety Psalm 121:7–8 (KJV) "The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Sharon Campbell-Danvers  There have been many times when I have put something away so securely that I could not remember where I placed it. Hours have been spent searching through drawers, cupboards, bags, and shelves, retracing my steps over and over again. Sometimes, after exhausting every possibility, I simply stop and pray, "Lord, please touch my mind and help me remember where I put it." More often than not, in the quietness of the night or during a moment of stillness, the Lord gently nudges my memory. A forgotten detail comes back, a particular movement resurfaces in my mind, and I am able to retrace my steps and find what was lost. There are times in life when we find ourselves facing situations for which we simply do not have the answers. We may be confronted with difficult decisions, unexpected challenges, or responsibilities that stretch us beyond our comfort zone. In those moments, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about what to do next. James offers a simple yet powerful solution: ask God for wisdom. This verse reminds us that wisdom is not reserved for a select few. God freely gives wisdom to those who seek Him. Today, I want to address something that many people do not often speak openly about and share how God takes care of us even when we do not fully understand what He is doing. Some time ago, I received a new seating position at work. As soon as I sat down, I felt a very cold wind coming from underneath the desk. Looking down, I realised that an air-conditioning vent was directly beneath me. The air was so cold that many days I considered covering it because it seemed more of a nuisance than a blessing. First, it reminds me that I have a Shepherd, meaning I have Someone on whom I can truly depend. A shepherd leads, provides, protects, guides, and cares for his sheep. The beauty of this verse is found in the personal declaration David makes. He does not say, "The Lord is a shepherd," but rather, "The Lord is my shepherd." This verse does not promise a life free from problems, but it assures us that when our minds are unwavering and rooted in faith, we are shielded from the inner turmoil that so often accompanies uncertainty. When we allow fear, doubt, and negative thinking to dominate, our peace quickly erodes. However, by intentionally directing our minds toward God’s character; His love, power, and faithfulness; we create a spiritual anchor that holds firm amidst life’s storms. We cannot pretend forever. Poorly-executed pretense will be easily perceived, and whereas the skilled pretender may fool humans, no one can fool God. No one - not even the Israelites and their performance of religious rituals in the initial verses of Isaiah 58.  You see reader, exile of any kind can be rough, inducing doubt amidst adversity. It can either birth a champion or draw you away from God. Returning from exile can be worse. Identity may be questioned. There may be uncertainty, and rebuilding may be seen as a burden. In Genesis, as He created the world, He counted each day. He counts the hairs on our heads (Luke 12:7). He counts the stars in the sky (Psalm 147:4). Numbers matter to God, showing His attention to detail and intimate knowledge of His creation. Yet, when it comes to grace, God does things differently. He does not quantify the grace He gives us. Instead, He simply says: “My grace is sufficient for you.” There’s no measurement, no limit, no short supply. God’s grace is always enough for every need we have, no matter how great or small.
