Broken Heart Restoration
Theme: Guarding Your Heart. Protecting Your Spiritual and Emotional Health

How many of you have experienced a broken heart? I understand that feeling all too well. "Bruck" heart is not an easy thing to digest! When your heart is broken, there is a tendency to be overly protective and cautious. "Once bitten, twice shy" is a famous adage. We vow never to let anyone or anything hurt us again. But if we shield our hearts and place bulletproof locks or vests around them, how will we find peace and love in this world? Broken things can become more beautiful and stronger when handled rightly, with Jesus. Whatever has happened to your heart, give it to Jesus.
Time and time again, I have learned how important it is to guard our hearts. Life’s experiences have shown me that when we let certain things in—whether unhealthy relationships, negative thoughts, unresolved past issues, or worldly distractions—they can deeply affect us. That is why it is essential to protect our hearts for our own spiritual and emotional well-being. The Bible reminds us that Jesus desires, above all things, that we prosper and be in good health (3 John 1:2). Whole and not broken or "bruck" heart is what Jesus desires for us.
Hurt people tend to hurt others. We must take care of our spiritual and mental health so that we do not hurt others—or, better yet, so that we do not cause innocent people to pay for what they did not do to us. Have you been hurt? Is your heart still wounded? Are you afraid to love or to trust again? You are not alone.
You are not alone. Jesus cares about your heart. If you are broken, the Potter will put you back together. As young people, we need to learn to trust God, even when things do not make sense. Jesus will be your pacemaker and heart protector. At the right moment, when you are ready and able to appreciate His gift of love, Jesus will make a way for you.
I encourage us to stop looking for love in the wrong places and from the wrong people. Young ladies, it is necessary to protect your hearts and give God your future. Do not settle when God has a prince for you! At the appointed time, God will give you the desires of your heart. God knows your thoughts and your heart (Jeremiah 17:10) and promises to give you an expected end.
Any situation that impacts your mental health and spiritual well-being needs to be reconsidered.
It is often in times of brokenness that we find refuge in Jesus. These moments tend to draw us closer to Him, where we learn to trust Him even more. He reminds us that He is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). During these moments, we learn to trust and obey. We can find a friend in Jesus and become persuaded that God will see us through.
Remain confident that God cares about your feelings (1 Peter 5:7). If your heart is or has been broken, God can fix it for you, just as He did for me. I am whole again because Jesus healed my heart. Give Him yours today.
And so, it is important to guard your heart, for it determines the course of your life (Proverbs 4:23). I have given my heart to Jesus and found peace and restoration. How about you?
Prayer
Dear God,
Help me to guard my heart and mind against anything that disrupts my peace or draws me away from You. Teach me to discern when to step back and rely on Your strength instead of my own. Give me the wisdom to establish healthy boundaries and protect my spiritual and emotional health. Lord, I trust You to carry my burdens and guide me in all my relationships. Thank You for caring about my feelings and reminding me that I am never alone. May my life always reflect Your love and glory.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
