January 25: Walking in Wisdom
Theme: Seeking God’s guidance
Author: Deneisha Campbell-Davey, Women's Ministries Leader, King's SDA Church
Scripture Reading:Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NIV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.
Reflection:
Each day, we face multiple choices, some significant while others are insignificant- these choices help to shape our lives. In today’s fast-paced world, the urge to lean on our own understanding is powerful. However, Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us that true wisdom starts with placing our trust in our Lord. When we seek God’ s guidance, we are not simply asking him for help, we are choosing to submit our will to His divine plan for us.
By deciding to surrender our desires and concerns to the will of God, we are opening ourselves to His power to transform us. This bold act of surrender allows us to step faithfully in wisdom rather than ambling around in confusion. As David prayed in Psalms 25:4-5, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truths and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” So should we pray and seek God’s guidance each day?
Questions to consider:
Do you find yourself relying more on your own understanding than God's will?
What specific decisions may you be facing that require you to seek God’s guidance?
Have you considered practical ways to submit your plans to God's will in prayer this week?
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, today I humbly bow before You, acknowledging my need for Your guidance and wisdom. Please help me to trust in You with my whole being and accept Your will in every aspect of my life. Teach me to listen to Your still, small voice amidst the chaos of my own thoughts and the demands of this world. May Your will be clear to me, and may I have the courage to follow Your leading. Thank You for your promise to make my paths straight as I seek Your direction. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
Contemplation:
Take some time to think about the areas of your life where you need clarity and take note of any specific prayer requests for God’s guidance that you may have. I encourage you to trust that God hears you, He is there for you and He is always guiding your steps towards His perfect will.
Closing Thoughts:
As you navigate through this week, cling closely to the assurance that seeking God’s guidance is a journey of trust. May each step you take in faith bring you closer to the wisdom and clarity you seek. Walk fearlessly in the knowledge that He is with you and guiding your path through this journey called life.
May you envelop yourself in His love and accept the fact that He cares and knows what is best for you.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your divine wisdom and guidance in every decision we face. Help us to trust in You wholeheartedly and to surrender our plans to Your perfect will. Teach us to listen for Your voice amidst life’s noise and walk fearlessly in faith, knowing You are with us every step. May Your truth light our path and Your love surround us as we navigate this journey called life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
