March 6 God, Are You Listening?

Theme: Finding Faith When Prayers Seem Unanswered

Rosemarie Lemonious Kings SDA Church

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feared God, and eschewed evil?”-Job 1:8.

Job was a righteous and just man who feared God and turned away from evil. Yet, God allowed Satan to test him, stripping him of everything he had- his seven sons, three daughters, livestock, and wealth. Despite this unimaginable loss, Job did not waver in his faith. He mourned, tearing his robe, shaving his head, and falling to the ground in worship (Job 1:20).

Even after being afflicted with painful sores from head to toe, Job remained steadfast. His wife urged him to curse God and die, but he responded, “Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” (Job 2:10). In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

There have been moments when I felt abandoned, like the world was against me. No matter how hard I tried, challenges kept arising- rumors, criticism, and betrayal, even from people I barely knew. It felt like every door was closing,  I questioned my purpose. I prayed and cried, yet the situation remained unchanged. At times, the only thing I felt like doing was sleeping and never waking up. But even when I gave up on myself, God never gave up on me.

When I compared my trials to Job’s suffering, I realized my burdens were small. Through all his pain and afflictions, Job never lost faith. His story taught me to worship even in my struggles and trust God even when my prayers go unanswered.

Daniel’s story also reminds me of unwavering faith. Though he was innocent, he was thrown into the lion’s den. He prayed daily, yet God allowed him to face the den. Still, he never wavered in his trust. These biblical examples inspire me to stand firm, knowing that God is working behind the scenes even when my prayers seem unheard.

No matter what I face today, my faith in God grows stronger. Even when answers seem delayed, but I will continue to trust His plan.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank you for your blessings and for inspiring me through the stories of Job and Daniel. Teach me to trust you even when my prayers seem unanswered. Help me to read and meditate on Your Word daily, finding strength in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
