June 10: The Power of a Purse

Theme: Using Your Resources Wisely

Scripture: “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce.” Proverbs 3:9

A purse is more than just an accessory it holds resources, opportunities, and the ability to make an impact. In biblical times, a purse symbolized provision and stewardship. Today, it represents our finances, our generosity, and how we manage God’s blessings. How we use what we have whether little or much reflects our trust in God and our willingness to honor Him.

As a Christian youth and a woman of God, I’m learning that my identity is not found in material things, but in how I live out my faith even through something as simple as how I use what’s in my purse. Being a young believer comes with challenges, but it also comes with a unique opportunity to set an example of faith, generosity, and purpose. Our choices speak volumes. When we choose to give even a little we show the world what it means to trust God fully and serve Him wholeheartedly.

The power of a purse is not in how much it holds but in how it is used. Jesus praised the widow who gave her two small coins in the temple (Mark 12:41–44). Though her offering was small, it was significant because she gave with a heart full of faith. This teaches us that God values our willingness to give more than the amount we contribute. When we surrender our finances to Him, they become tools for His kingdom helping the needy, supporting ministry work, and bringing hope to others.

At times, it’s easy to feel anxious about money, especially as young people wondering if we’ll have enough to meet our needs or pursue our dreams. But God’s Word reminds us that He is our ultimate provider (Philippians 4:19). When we honor Him with our wealth no matter how small He blesses us abundantly, not just financially but in many other ways. Our purse has the power to change lives when we use it according to God’s purpose.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the resources You have given me. As a woman of God, help me to be a faithful steward of my finances, using them to bless others and bring glory to Your name. Teach me to trust in Your provision rather than clinging tightly to what I have. May my giving be an act of worship and faith, knowing that You will always provide for my needs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge:
This week, take a step of faith by using what’s in your purse no matter how small to bless someone in need. Whether it’s buying a meal, donating to a cause, or giving to your church, remember that God sees and honors a generous heart. As a woman of faith, be bold in generosity and watch how He multiplies even the smallest act of giving!
