God’s Timing is Always Perfect

There are moments in life when it feels as though heaven is silent, prayers go unanswered, and every door remains firmly shut. Yet it’s in these very seasons that God is closest—quietly arranging circumstances, testing faith, and building patience.

I remember one such chapter during my student years at West Indies College (now Northern Caribbean University). Having secured tuition for my first semester but lacking funds for the second, my future seemed bleak. With no financial support from back home in Guyana, I was overwhelmed with uncertainty.

After I shared my situation with my housemate, she graciously invited me and three others to the Cayman Islands to find work. Everyone quickly landed good-paying jobs, enough to cover their tuition for an entire year—everyone except me.

Day after day, I watched them head off to work, returning with stories and laughter while I sat alone, feeling defeated. I cried out to God each night, begging Him for a breakthrough, but nothing changed.

As the weeks passed, the time to return to college drew near. My friends were busy shopping and preparing to return, while I silently tagged along, heartbroken, disappointed, and worried about what lay ahead.

Then, the day before our departure, something incredible happened. As we sat parked outside a store, the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists' accountant drove to our car and asked for me by name. She said the President wanted to see me.

I can still feel the surge of hope that filled me at that moment. When I met with them, I was offered a job at Edmer School (now Cayman Academy) from September to December. God showed up—right on time.

That job provided enough income to support me through two years of college. When I graduated, Cayman Academy had just opened a kindergarten division, and I was hired. The rest, as they say, is history.

Looking back, I realize God’s timing was flawless. Had I gotten a job earlier, I would’ve likely settled for less and missed the opportunity to complete my degree in Primary Education. God knew what I needed, when I needed it.

A Hymn That Speaks to My Heart

SDA Hymnal No. 510

If you but trust in God to guide you,
And place your confidence in Him,
You’ll find Him always there beside you,
To give you hope and strength within.
For those who trust God’s changeless love,
Build on the rock that will not move.

A Thought to Remember

As Ellen G. White wisely said:
"It is precisely in our weaknesses that God’s strength shines most brightly and powerfully.”

Prayer

Lord, strengthen my faith to trust You more. Teach me to wait patiently, knowing Your timing is always perfect. Help me to remember that even in seasons of silence, You are working behind the scenes for my good. Amen.

  2. Amen and amen. A awesome testimony that has ministered to me even as I read it. Sounds similar to my testimony. God is indeed an ontime God. He still works for His children.
