A devotional for youth and teens.

Scripture:

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)

What does it really mean to delight in the Lord? For teens, it’s easy to think delighting in God is just something “church people” talk about. But actually, it’s about learning to love God so much that He becomes your greatest joy—even more than your phone, sports, music, or hanging out with friends.

Take David for example. He was just a teenager when he was out in the fields taking care of sheep. He didn’t have Wi-Fi, TikTok, or video games. But he had something greater—he spent time worshipping God, writing songs, and trusting Him with his whole heart. When everyone else was afraid of Goliath, David stepped up with confidence. Why? Because he delighted in God. His joy and strength came from his relationship with Him.

Delighting in God doesn’t mean you’ll never face hard stuff. Maybe you’ve struggled with fitting in, feeling lonely, or even worrying about your future. But when your happiness and strength are rooted in God, He gives you peace in the middle of the chaos. Even better, He shapes your dreams so that what you want lines up with His amazing plans for you.

Psalm 37:4 isn’t about God giving you everything you put on your wish list. It’s about Him changing your heart so that your desires match His—and then He fulfills them in the best way possible. It’s like syncing your playlist to the right rhythm: your life starts moving in tune with His beat.

Prayer:

Lord, I want to delight in You. Help me to put You first in my life, even when it’s hard. Teach me to love what You love, and help my dreams to line up with Your plans. Amen.

Challenge:

Take 10 minutes today to talk to God honestly about what you want for your life—your dreams, struggles, and fears. Ask Him: Do my desires line up with Yours? Then read Psalm 23 (a psalm David wrote as a teen!) and write down one way you can trust God more this week.

Remember:

When you delight in God, your heart and His heart start beating to the same rhythm—and that’s where real joy and purpose begin.

💬 Challenge for Today:

Take 10 minutes today to talk to God about your dreams. Ask Him if they match His will. Then read a few verses from the Bible and write down one thing God might be asking you to do today.

🎯 Remember:

When you delight in God, your heart and His heart move in the same direction—and that’s the best adventure you could ever go on.
