September 14: Safe Under His Wings

 Safe Under His Wings

Scripture:
“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
Psalm 91:4

Life can often feel overwhelming, with storms of fear, challenges, and uncertainty pressing against us. Yet God, in His infinite love, provides a safe haven for us under His wings. Picture the tender image of a mother bird protecting her chicks. Her wings are strong, shielding them from harm, yet soft, offering comfort and peace. This is the same kind of shelter our Heavenly Father offers, a place of safety and rest in His presence.

God’s promise in Psalm 91:4 reminds us that He is not distant or uninvolved in our struggles. His faithfulness is our shield, His love is our covering, and His grace is our refuge. He calls us to trust Him, to run to His wings when the storms of life rage on. As Isaiah 41:10 declares, “So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” His presence is both a comfort and a guarantee that we are never left alone in the storm.

Maria, a young mother of two, found herself in the middle of a financial crisis when her husband lost his job. Bills were piling up, and the anxiety of providing for her family kept her awake at night. One evening, sitting at her kitchen table, she opened her Bible to Psalm 91. As she read verse 4, tears began streaming down her face.

“I realized I had been trying to carry everything on my own,” Maria shared. “But God was inviting me to come under His wings, to rest in His protection. That night, I prayed and surrendered my fears to Him. Slowly, peace began to replace my anxiety. Within weeks, my husband found a job, and we were able to catch up on our bills. But more than the financial relief, I experienced the power of trusting God completely.”

Her story is a reminder of Jesus’ words in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” The peace Maria experienced was not based on circumstances but on the unshakable presence of God.

Reflection Points

God’s Protection Is Personal
Just as a bird shelters her young, God’s protection is tender and specific to your needs. Trust in His covering.

Rest in His Faithfulness
When life feels out of control, remember that God’s faithfulness is your shield. He is reliable and unchanging.

Run to Him First
Instead of trying to solve everything alone, take your worries to God in prayer. Under His wings, you will find refuge and peace.

Surrender Brings Peace
Surrendering your fears and uncertainties to God is the first step toward experiencing His peace.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your protection and love. Help me to remember that I am safe under Your wings, no matter what storms I face. Teach me to trust in Your faithfulness and to surrender my fears to You. Cover me with Your peace, and guide me as I walk through life with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let this be a reminder today: God’s wings are always open to shield and comfort you. Run to Him and rest in His loving care.
