September 2: Rooted in Love, Built to Last - Part 2

Marriage is Not Easy -But Christ is Enough
Sharon Campbell-Danvers

Marriage brings two imperfect people together. There will be disagreements, disappointments, and days when you wonder if you’re strong enough. The truth is, you aren't strong enough on your own.

But Christ is.

When you build on His love, His patience, and His mercy, you can overcome what human love alone cannot. You may face struggles (everyone does!), but if you stay rooted in Him, your love will endure and deepen over time.

Remember:

  • Don't focus on what you lack. Focus on the One who fills every gap.

  • Don't keep uprooting your marriage. Water it, nourish it, protect it.

  • Don't tear down what God is still building. Trust His process.

Ways to Strengthen a Marriage Built on Christ

  • Practice forgiveness daily, even when it’s hard.

  • Keep short accounts: resolve conflicts quickly and lovingly.

  • Serve each other selflessly, modeling Christ’s humility.

  • Study the Word together and individually to stay spiritually nourished.

  • Seek wise counsel and mentorship when needed; don’t isolate.

  • Celebrate each other's successes and support through failures.

  • Establish a shared vision and goals for your family and future.

  • Maintain emotional and physical intimacy; prioritize connection.

  • Speak life over your spouse and relationship with affirmations and hope.

  • Cultivate gratitude — thank God and each other often.

  • Be intentional about spiritual growth — both individually and as a couple.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of marriage and the blessing of companionship. Thank You that You are the Master Builder, laying every good foundation.
Teach us to root our marriages deeply in Your love and truth. Help us to build with wisdom, patience, and grace. Fill our homes with Your Spirit.
Teach us to love, to forgive, to serve, and to endure, just as Christ loves us.
When storms come, remind us that we are not building alone. You are with us.
Make our marriages a reflection of Your faithful, everlasting love.
