September 25: Hold On

Hold On – Don’t Give Up Now

Hold on. This is a call to someone today to hang in there. Sometimes it feels like no one knows what we are going through. Thoughts run through our minds again and again, and we believe no one understands. We worry about everything that unsettles us, and when a situation appears threatening our anxiety rises. We cry in silence, hiding our tears and fears. Some mornings it is a struggle just to get up and step outside. We hope no one notices us and that we will not have to speak to anyone. We long to stay hidden in our comfort zones, untouched by demands.

Even church attendance can feel heavy, and the effort to worship together drains us. As days pass, some drift further away from the house of faith, convinced no one will understand. A few find strength to return, but others need help. Sometimes they are holding on by the thinnest strand of hope, praying for someone to notice. What they need is patience, compassion, and understanding—not judgement or a holier than thou response.

The truth is that many around us are carrying battles with anxiety, stress, or depression. Pause and ask: how can I hold on for someone else? How can I offer strength to a friend, a spouse, a child? If you are the one struggling to hold on, take courage. You do not have to carry it alone. Reach out, even if it feels impossible. There is always someone who will listen and walk with you.

The Word of God reminds us, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”(Galatians 6:9). Even when we feel like giving up, God promises a harvest if we endure. He also speaks in Isaiah 40:31“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” The strength we lack is found in Him. And Philippians 4:6–7assures us, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The Bible is filled with testimonies of people who felt weak yet overcame by the grace of God. Elijah wrestled with despair, David poured out his tears, Hannah wept bitterly, and Paul faced deep affliction, yet God met each of them with sustaining power. You too can be an overcomer. Do not give up now. Hold on to God’s promises.

Prayer
Father, I thank You that in my weakness You are strong. When I feel weary, renew my strength. When I am tempted to give up, remind me of Your promises. Help me to reach out when I need help, and help me to see those who need encouragement around me. Fill me with compassion, patience, and love. Keep my eyes on Jesus, and let Your peace guard my heart and mind. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
