October 15: Help! My Children

Topic:Help! My Children

Key Text:

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James 5:16 (KJV)

Reflection

Too often, we hear the cries of parents who are faithfully praying for their children to accept the Lord. Many of these children grew up in the church, attended services regularly, and were even actively involved in ministry. Yet somewhere along the way, they wandered. Does this mean that all hope is lost for them?

The Word of God reminds us that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Prayer has power. Though children may turn away, God hears the cries of parents who intercede for them day and night. The key is not to give up. Continue to pray diligently, exercise patience, and trust in the timing of God.

At the same time, parents must lovingly remind their children of the urgency of their decision for Christ. Life is not guaranteed, and salvation is the greatest choice they will ever make. Even so, we must not allow discouragement to take root.

I have seen parents agonize in prayer, some even pass away without witnessing their children return to the faith. Yet, years later, those very children surrendered their lives to Christ. The seeds of prayer and godly example were never wasted. God is faithful.

The encouragement today is this: keep standing in prayer for your children. Though they may wander far, they are never beyond the reach of God’s grace.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We lift before You every parent who is praying for their children. Strengthen their faith, encourage their hearts, and remind them that their prayers are not in vain. For every son and daughter who has wandered, draw them back by Your Spirit. Even when we cannot see the results, help us to trust Your timing and Your plan. May our families be restored in faith and walk together in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
