October 19: Bedroom Ministry

Topic: Bedroom Ministry

Key Texts:

“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.” Proverbs 5:18–19

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled.” Hebrews 13:4

Reflection

Romance and intimacy are often overlooked in church conversations. For some, the very thought of addressing this subject in a worship setting seems inappropriate. Yet scripture reminds us that intimacy in marriage is a gift from God and should not be ignored or left to the standards of the world. If the church fails to educate and support couples in this sacred area, many will look elsewhere for guidance.

Keeping romance alive in today’s busy world requires intention. Healthy marriages are not sustained on prayer and service alone but also on love, tenderness, and intimacy. What we might call “bedroom ministry” takes time, patience, and willingness to learn. It is not a one-time course but a lifelong process of discovery and growth.

Romance in marriage is not like preparing quick pancakes but like kneading dough to bake bread. It cannot be rushed. It requires warmth to build passion, health to sustain intimacy, and intention to maintain closeness. When couples approach this ministry prayerfully and deliberately, they create a safe space where love and passion are nurtured.

If the flames in your marriage are growing dim, or perhaps have gone out, take courage. With God’s help and with intentional effort, the fire can be rekindled. Song of Solomon 8:7 declares, “Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.” Love that is rooted in God has the power to endure and flourish.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of marriage and for the intimacy You designed between husband and wife. Help us to honour this gift, to nurture passion, and to strengthen our marriages in both spirit and affection. Teach us to be intentional, patient, and tender with our spouses. May our homes be filled with joy, warmth, and the beauty of love that reflects Christ and His Church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
