November 13: Living with Eternity on Their Minds

Scripture Focus: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2 (NIV)

Sharon Campbell-Danvers

The mind is a powerful place. For many men, it is a battlefield filled with competing thoughts such as work deadlines, family responsibilities, finances, contracts, health, and the uncertain plans for tomorrow. Every day feels like a balancing act between provision, purpose, and peace.

But in the midst of all this noise, where does God fit?

Where does eternity fit?

It is easy to let the urgent overshadow the eternal. Yet, the Word of God calls us to set our minds on things above. That means living today with tomorrow, God’s tomorrow, in mind. A man who lives with eternity in view does not waste his days chasing what fades. He measures success not by what he gains, but by what he gives.

Jesus asked, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36).

That question pierces through every distraction. It forces us to consider what truly matters, not just the legacy we leave behind, but the destiny we are living toward.

Living with eternity in mind transforms how a man leads his home, handles his work, and guards his thoughts. It brings clarity to confusion and focus to chaos. It reminds us that our careers will end, our possessions will fade, but our relationship with God and the impact we make for His Kingdom will endure forever.

Challenge:

  • Pause and Prioritize: Take inventory of your mental space. What dominates your thoughts each day?
  • Refocus: Make a conscious decision to start each morning by inviting God into your plans, not as an afterthought but as the foundation.
  • Practice Eternal Thinking: Ask yourself before every major decision, Will this matter in eternity?

Prayer:

Father, help me to set my mind on You. When my thoughts are crowded with worries and responsibilities, remind me that You hold it all together. Teach me to live with eternity in view, to lead, work, and love with purpose that outlasts time. May my life reflect a man who keeps heaven in his heart and Your will in his mind.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Key Takeaway:

A man who lives with eternity on his mind walks with purpose on earth.
