November 21: Traffic Love

Love in Action—Even in Traffic

1 John 3:18“Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Each day, Jesus moved with intention. Whether He was teaching, healing, or simply walking through towns, He looked for opportunities to show love in practical ways. His compassion wasn’t confined to sermons or conversations—it showed up in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

Many of us move through daily routines almost on autopilot: we leave home, go to work, return, and repeat. It’s easy to assume that meaningful acts of love only happen in big moments, during ministry events, or when we plan something special. But God often invites us to demonstrate His love right in the middle of our ordinary rhythms—yes, even in traffic.

Recently, I sat in a long line of cars. A driver coming from the opposite direction needed space to exit a side road. Instead of blocking the way, I paused and allowed her through, along with two other vehicles. The driver behind me, however, was impatient—he honked, unaware that I was choosing kindness over convenience. But the truth was, even after they passed, the traffic still stood ahead of us. My small act of patience hadn't delayed my journey; it simply created room for love to flow.

Moments like these remind us that everyday life is full of opportunities to shine Christ’s love. A gesture as simple as letting someone merge, offering a wave of thanks, or showing patience when others are irritated can soften hearts and even inspire someone else to pass on the kindness they received.

Jesus calls us to love “in deed and in truth.” That means love must be visible, practical, and heartfelt—not just spoken. When we slow down, look around, and choose compassion even in inconvenient moments, we reflect the heart of Christ.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where in your daily routine do small acts of love often go unnoticed?

  2. How can you be more intentional about showing Christ’s love in ordinary situations?

  3. Is there a place where impatience has been stealing your peace and witness?

Prayer

Lord, help me to love not only with words but with my actions. Open my eyes to the simple opportunities around me—whether in traffic, at work, or at home—to reflect Your kindness. Make my heart patient and my steps intentional, so that others may see Your love through me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
