“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
The Challenge of Waiting
Let’s be honest—most people don’t like to wait. In our fast-paced world, if a YouTube video or website doesn’t load instantly, frustration sets in. We hit refresh, scroll past, or move on. Patience is in short supply.
Yet, some have learned the art of waiting well. They use time wisely—reading a book, listening to music or a podcast, or engaging in something enriching while stuck in traffic or standing in line. Instead of giving in to impatience, they grow.
Biblical Examples of Waiting
Scripture is filled with stories of people who waited—Abraham, Joseph, the Israelites. They endured long seasons before God’s promises were fulfilled. But through the waiting, they learned to trust Him.
We too must learn to wait well. Waiting isn’t passive—it’s a spiritual discipline that builds trust, character, and strength.
My Journey of Waiting
I remember waiting for a spouse. After graduating from the University of Montemorelos with a degree in Theology in 2012, I watched many of my friends get married. I began to worry: “Lord, is there no one out there for me?”
Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of Psalm 37:4:
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Instead of focusing on what I lacked, I leaned into prayer and Scripture. I served God’s people and my community. In that season, God renewed my strength. He was preparing me to be the husband He had called me to be.
Everything I prayed for in a wife—spiritual, bilingual, slightly shorter than me, and willing to follow God’s lead—He gave me in Heidi. After four years of waiting, I met her at Andrews University on November 5, 2016. We built a relationship grounded in faith and were married on December 30, 2018. Today, we have two beautiful children and serve God together as a family. Truly, the Lord mounted me up on wings like eagles.
Encouragement for the Waiting Season
Whatever you're waiting for—a spouse, a breakthrough, healing, direction—delight yourself in the Lord. He is faithful.
While you wait:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5–6).
Develop patience and use your time to grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Become more like Christ, so you can be a blessing to others.
A Prayer for the Waiting
Father, thank you for the seasons of waiting. Though they are often difficult, help us trust Your perfect timing. Shape our character to reflect Christ, and prepare us to be a blessing to others and prepare us for Your soon coming. May we wait well, with faith and hope, until Your promises are fulfilled. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pastor Nyack, Thanks for sharing your beautiful testimony, many of us lack patience may God help me/us to trust and wait on Him and while waiting we can continue to work for Him.
