November 5 Part 2: The God of the Fall

 The Enemy’s Expectation

The Bible says in Psalm 23:5 (KJV): “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.”
This verse came alive through the avocado encounter.

Think about it—when individuals with enemy-like features and characteristics show up in your life, they often wait for your downfall. They shake the limb you are clinging to, expecting you to drop hard, expecting the big blow that will break you. They wait in the shadows to celebrate and laugh when you fall.

But what the enemy does not see is the preparation of God.

1. The Mulch as the Table

That container of mulch was like the table that God prepares.

  • It was already there before the avocado fell.

  • It was positioned exactly where it needed to be.

  • It turned what could have been bruising into preservation.

What the enemy thought would destroy you, God turns into a setup for His glory.

2. The Shock of Deliverance

When the avocado fell, it didn’t smash against the ground. It rested in a safe place.

That’s exactly how God works in our lives. The enemy expects our ruin, but instead, they witness our deliverance. They see that God has kept us.

  • Genesis 50:20: “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”

  • Micah 7:8: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise…”

What the enemy meant for evil, God has turned for good.

3. God at the Right Time

The avocado did not fall too early or too late—it fell at the right time into what had already been prepared.

In the same way, God shows up right on time. He will not allow your fall to destroy you. Instead, He uses it to prove that His hand is over your life.

  • Psalm 37:24: “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.”

  • Isaiah 41:10: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

4. Do Not Fear the Fall

So, do not worry about the fall. The God of the fall is waiting to catch you.

  • He cushions you in His mercy.

  • He lifts you up in His strength.

  • He restores you to victory.

Closing Word

That avocado resting in the mulch is a reminder that you are safe in God’s hands. You will not be crushed. You will not be destroyed. What the enemy thought would end you will become the testimony that glorifies God.

So just hold on. Have faith. Do not worry about the fall. Consider the God of the fall—the One who is already waiting to catch you and lift you up victoriously.
