Reflection

Last year about this time, God impressed it upon my heart to begin a one month devotional blog for the women of the Kings Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Cayman Islands. Being new to the congregation, I was excited about the opportunity to connect with the women in a meaningful and spiritual way.

The initiative was accepted by the Pastor, and the women gave their full support. The agreement I made with God was simple. Just one month.

When the month ended, the requests continued. Women kept asking for more devotionals, and I gently reminded God that we had only agreed to one month. Soon it became two months, and I found myself wrestling with God as I began to understand the weight of the calling. Ministry requires more than willingness. It requires time, consistency, and commitment.

At the same time, I was juggling work and family responsibilities. I could not see how the mission could continue, yet the desire remained strong. Every time I decided this would be the end, someone would stop me to say thank you. Even at the hospital, people shared how blessed they had been. One day, a man told me that his wife shared the devotionals with him, and he too was encouraged.

God was clearly at work.

Scripture reminds us that “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:24

Then, unexpectedly, Sis Cory Chambers approached me and affirmed that this was an important initiative for the women of the Cayman Islands. I shared honestly how much work was involved and that continuing would require partnership. Without hesitation, she committed fully and became my rock.

As we prayed and sensed God leading us further, He sent additional helpers. Dr. Terry Ann Robinson and Sis Arlene McLeod joined the work, faithfully submitting devotionals to keep the ministry moving forward. Others stepped in to share the messages and extend the reach. God was showing us that when He gives a vision, He also provides the support.

God is not only the author of our faith, He is the sustainer of every assignment He gives. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.”
Psalm 127:1

As we look toward a new year, this journey reminds us that God will send help. It is okay to feel tired or even discouraged along the way. When the calling is from Him, He sends heaven sent helpers to lift us up and keep the mission alive.

My three sisters accepted the mission and continue to work under the leading of the Holy Spirit to make this ministry a reality. As we move forward, we remain committed to this calling and invite other women to support and help make this a staple within Women’s Ministries in the Cayman Islands.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the visions You place in our hearts and for the helpers You send along the way. Strengthen us when the work feels heavy and remind us that we are never alone. Help us to trust You with every step of the journey. Amen.
