Winning on Purpose: Strategy, Unity, and Preparation
The Experience
On December 23, 2025, we decided to take the family to laser tag. For me, it had always been about the exercise and the fun—not really about winning. But something happened this year that shifted our focus.
The males decided to team up.
Immediately, we were at a clear disadvantage—or so it seemed. We challenged the decision, but they overpowered us, confident in their numbers and strength. Instead of giving in, we decided to strategize. What started as frustration turned into determination.
I chose to focus on their base and stayed there. Others were intentionally placed to focus on specific targets. When one of us was hit, another teammate moved in immediately. We also ensured that one person was always stationed at our base—to protect it and provide backup.
Round one ended in shock—we won.
We regrouped, reviewed quickly, adjusted our approach, and entered the second round even more focused and united. And once again—we won.
What looked like a disadvantage became a victory because of strategy, unity, and intentional roles.
Key Text (KJV)
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”
— Luke 14:28 (KJV)
Jesus highlights an essential principle: intentional preparation precedes success. Nothing meaningful is built without forethought, planning, and commitment.
Reflection
This laser tag experience mirrors life as we prepare for 2026.
Victory did not come from strength alone. It came from:
-
Clear roles
-
Protecting what mattered
-
Covering one another
-
Staying focused on the objective
-
Regrouping when necessary
Scripture reminds us that success—especially in relationships, families, and purpose—requires unity:
“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
— Ecclesiastes 4:12 (KJV)
In 2026, many of our greatest battles will not be physical—they will be emotional, relational, spiritual, and mental. We cannot afford to move without strategy or to stand alone without support.
Paul also reminds us:
“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
— 1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV)
Order brings strength. Unity brings endurance. Strategy brings victory.
Lessons as We Prepare for 2026
-
Don’t underestimate perceived disadvantages—strategy can shift outcomes.
-
Protect your base—your faith, family, values, and mental health.
-
Know your role and respect the roles of others.
-
Cover one another—when one is weary, another steps in.
-
Pause to review and adjust—reflection strengthens future success.
-
Move together with intention.
Winning in life is rarely about overpowering others. It’s about building wisely, standing together, and moving with purpose.
Prayer
Lord,
As we prepare for 2026, teach us to live with wisdom, strategy, and unity.
Help us to protect what matters, support one another, and walk intentionally in every season.
May we not be reactive, but prepared; not divided, but united.
Guide our steps so that our victories reflect Your order, Your purpose, and Your glory.
Amen.
