January 15: God Goes Before You
God Goes Before You
Key Text: “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:8
There are moments in life when God calls us to step into roles that feel far beyond our abilities. The assignment seems overwhelming, the people unfamiliar, and the responsibility daunting. Our first instinct might be to say, “No, I’m not ready.” But when God calls, He equips—and He goes before us.
I remember facing such a moment. I applied for a job, and during the interview, I realized I was being interviewed to lead the department, not to work in it. I was asked to lead a department of people I didn’t know in an organization I was just joining. I felt completely unprepared. My heart was filled with doubt, and I was ready to decline. Then I spoke to my dad, who reminded me of this promise from Deuteronomy 31:8:
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Those words gave me courage. I accepted the role, trusting that if God had called me, He would make a way. And He did—miraculously. Not only did I lead effectively, but I also implemented systems that are still in use years later. One program I started was even featured in the national newspaper!
What amazed me most was what happened behind the scenes. Years later, when another opportunity came, and I was about to leave the job, team members confessed they had planned to make my job difficult. But somehow, those plans dissolved; instead of working against me, they found themselves working with me. God had gone before me, softening hearts and clearing obstacles.
I don’t know what new path God has called you to or will call you to in 2026, but I can guarantee that God goes before you. He disrupts the enemy’s plan. He clears your path, and He will lead you to success.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for going before me in every assignment You give. Help me to trust Your presence and Your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Give me courage to say “yes” when You call, knowing that You will clear the path and equip me for every good work. Amen.

Amen
