February 2: A Love That Leads

A Love That Leads

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV)

Sharon Campbell-Danvers

Recently, we desperately needed someone to iron. The clothes had piled up, and we were truly behind. We even arranged for someone to come, but at the last minute she didn’t show up. Then I heard my husband say he had run out of clean work shirts.

Now, I will be honest, I do not enjoy ironing. I don’t mind washing, cooking, or cleaning, but ironing has never been my passion. Still, I said quietly in my heart, “Lord, You know how I feel about this… but let me do what I can.” I decided to give a few hours and simply serve.

When my husband came home and saw what I had accomplished in just a few hours, he was shocked. He said, “I’m going to pay you, because if someone had come, I would have paid them and they wouldn’t have done this much.” He handed me $100. On top of that, he placed a big dragon fruit and a bottle of wine lovingly on the bed for me.

In that moment, I realized something powerful. I had faith that help was coming. I had hope that the situation would improve. But what truly changed the atmosphere in our home was love, love demonstrated through service, gratitude, and honor.

Suddenly, I felt like I could iron every piece of clothing in the house!

That is the power of real, demonstrated love in relationships. It is good to receive, but when appreciation and gratitude are expressed, they ignite intimacy and deepen connection. I did not volunteer for the reward, I volunteered out of love. But love returned to me, multiplied.

February is often the month when couples buy gifts and make big gestures. But what if we chose instead to show faith, hope, and love every single day, through small acts of service, gentle words, and grateful hearts?

Because faith believes.
Hope waits.
But love moves.

And love always leads.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for teaching us that love is more than words, it is action. Help us to walk in faith, hold on to hope, and choose love daily in our homes and relationships. Teach us to serve one another with willing hearts, to speak with kindness, and to show gratitude often. Let Your love lead us in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen. πŸ’œ
