March 19: Trusting God's Timing

Key Text: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the

heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

When we lost our brother, Alrick to prostate cancer in 2015, our family was inconsolable. My

mother had lost her only son at the young age of 45, and my sisters and I had lost the brother

who was our protector, our “Jack of all trades and master of many”, and the family comedian.

The laughter in our home suddenly felt distant, replaced with grief, blame and unanswered

questions.

While my brother was battling this deadly disease, my eldest sister unexpectedly became

pregnant with her second child - 22 years after her first. None of us could understand how joy

and sorrow could exist in the same season. Yet God, in His perfect wisdom, was already

writing a story of comfort in the middle of our pain.

My brother held on just long enough to witness God's miracle. One of his last requests was

for my sister to show him the "pretty little baby.” Shortly after, he passed away.

We lost our rock, and God gave us our miracle baby, Peyton as our comforter. What timing!

Only God’s timing.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season for everything. A season for weeping and a

season for joy. A season for loss and a season for new life. Often, we don’t understand why

God allows certain things to happen when they do, but He is always working with purpose.

God knew our hearts needed healing. He knew my mother needed hope. He knew our family

needed a reminder that death does not have the final word. Through our beautiful little

princess, God showed us that even in the darkest valley, He is still creating something

beautiful.

Now nine years old, Peyton and Mommy have this special bond, their own play time and

special games that's just a beauty to watch and hear the squeals and giggles of joy throughout

the house. Sometimes God doesn’t remove the pain immediately—but He sends comfort right

on time. He sent Peyton just in time to help heal our broken hearts and bring renewed joy to

our lives.

If you are waiting on God today, trust that His timing is never late and never early. It is

always perfect. What feels like delay may actually be preparation. What feels like loss may

be making room for new life. God sees the whole picture when we only see one moment.

Let us rest in the truth that every season has meaning and every moment has purpose in

God’s plan.

Prayer:

Dear Father, help us to trust Your timing even when we do not understand Your ways. Give

us peace and patience in our waiting and hope in our sorrow. Teach us to see Your hand at

work in every season of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
