March 26: Purpose with Power

by: Arlene McLeod

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”— Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Many women wrestle quietly with questions of purpose: Does my life matter? Am I doing enough? Is this really what I’m called to do? In a world that often measures worth by visibility and achievement, it’s easy to feel like your impact is small or unnoticed.

But Acts 1:8 shifts the focus completely. Your purpose is not rooted in striving—it is rooted in power. Not your own strength, but the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through you.

Before Jesus spoke these words, His disciples were unsure, waiting, and perhaps even afraid. They didn’t have influence, status, or a clear roadmap. Yet Jesus didn’t tell them to figure everything out—He told them to wait for power. Because purpose without God’s power leads to exhaustion, but purpose empowered by the Spirit leads to transformation.

As a woman, your purpose is not limited to a title, season, or role. Whether you are leading in a workplace, raising children, caring for others, building something new, or simply trying to stay faithful in a hard season—God has placed purpose inside of you. And He has not left you to fulfill it alone.

Think about the everyday realities women face:

·         Showing up to work when you feel overlooked

·         Caring for others while your own needs feel unmet

·         Navigating transitions, losses, or unanswered prayers

·         Trying to remain strong when life feels overwhelming

It is in these very places that the Holy Spirit empowers you.

His power gives you:

·         Strength when you are tired

·         Wisdom when you feel uncertain

·         Boldness when fear tries to silence you

·         Peace when everything around you feels unstable

Your life is a testimony—not just in big, visible moments, but in quiet, consistent faithfulness. A kind word, a patient response, a courageous step of obedience—these are all evidence of God’s power at work within you.

Real encouragement for today:
You don’t need to have everything figured out to walk in your purpose. You don’t need to be perfect, polished, or publicly recognized. God is not waiting for you to become “more” before He uses you. He is ready to empower you right where you are.

Maybe your purpose today looks like:

·         Getting through a difficult day with grace

·         Choosing faith instead of fear

·         Encouraging someone else when you’re struggling yourself

·         Taking one small step forward in obedience

These are not small things. They are powerful moments when God’s Spirit is working through you.

And here is the truth: when you rely on His power, your life will reach further than you can imagine. Your influence will extend beyond what you can see—into hearts, homes, and generations.

You are not powerless.
You are not without purpose.
You are a woman filled with God’s Spirit.

Reflection
Where have you been relying on your own strength instead of God’s power?
What area of your life feels unclear or uncertain right now?
How can you invite the Holy Spirit into your daily routine, not just the big moments?
What is one small step of obedience you can take today?

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for calling me to a life of purpose. I confess that sometimes I feel unsure, overwhelmed, or not enough. But Your Word reminds me that I am not alone—I have been given power through the Holy Spirit.
Fill me afresh today. Strengthen me where I feel weak, guide me where I feel uncertain, and give me boldness to walk in obedience. Help me to trust that my life has meaning, even in the small, unseen moments. Use me to reflect Your love, Your truth, and Your grace to those around me.
I surrender my plans and expectations to You, and I choose to walk in Your power.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
