March 27: Faithful Stewards in God’s Vineyard

Key Text: Galatians 6:9: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Building on the reflection that some are called to plant, others to water, and others may reap the increase, we must remember that God’s work unfolds through many hands and many seasons.

Sometimes when the increase finally comes, it is easy for people to forget those who labored and toiled to establish the foundation. The planter may feel overlooked when the one who waters receive recognition. Likewise, the one who watered may wonder why the person who reaped the visible success receives the praise. In many cases, the one enjoying the harvest may not even know the individuals who first planted the seed or nurtured the early growth.

Yet the Apostle Paul clarified this beautifully in 1 Corinthians 3:6:

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”

Paul reminds us that while people play different roles, the true source of growth is always God. Each person’s contribution is part of a divine process that unfolds over time.

Sometimes we highlight those who finish the race and forget those who paved the way and nurtured the vision from the beginning. But that is okay, because our service is ultimately not for human recognition but for God.

The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 4:2:

“Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

We are called to be faithful stewards of the assignments God gives us. Whether we plant, water, or harvest, each task is valuable in God’s kingdom.

Scripture also encourages us in Galatians 6:9:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Someone reading this today may feel that their sweat, prayers, and sacrifices were never recognized. Perhaps the foundation you laid became the platform on which others now build. Perhaps the seeds you planted are producing fruit that others are harvesting.

But remember, your work was never truly for people. It was for God.

And God never overlooks faithful labor.

One day the recognition will come from the One who sees every unseen sacrifice. The One who counts every tear, every prayer, and every act of obedience. And His words will be greater than any earthly praise:

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:21

So, continue to plant. Continue to water. Continue to serve faithfully.

Because in God’s vineyard, every faithful laborer matters, and God Himself keeps the record of every seed sown.

Prayer:  Lord God, make us faithful stewards in Your vineyard. Strengthen our hands, purify our hearts, and guide our steps so that all we do brings honor to Your name. Help us serve with humility, love, and perseverance, bearing fruit that reflects Your grace. Amen.
