March 28: Hold Fast to Hope

Hold Fast to Hope

Key Text - Hebrews 10:23 πŸ“–

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”

Often I reflect on how the early Christians suffered and endured intense persecution for their faith. Many were beaten, imprisoned, and even put to death, yet they refused to deny Christ.

We see this same unwavering faith throughout Scripture.
Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, yet he held fast to his faith in God.
The three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were cast into the fiery furnace, yet they stood firm, declaring that even if God did not deliver them, they would not bow.

History also reminds us of men like Martin Luther and John Huss, who faced opposition and persecution, yet remained steadfast in their convictions.

They held fast.

Today, we are called to have that same mindset.

When we think about it, many of us struggle with even small inconveniences. Some of us find it difficult to go a day without food, without air conditioning, or without our phones and internet. Yet these men and women had everything taken from them, comfort, security, freedom, and still, those who persecuted them could not take their faith in God.

That challenges us deeply.

In a world filled with uncertainty, shifting circumstances, and unexpected challenges, the call to the believer is clear: hold fast to hope.

To “hold fast” means to cling tightly, to remain firm, and to refuse to let go even when pressure comes. Life will bring moments that test our faith. There will be seasons when things do not go as planned, when prayers seem delayed, and when the path ahead feels unclear.

Yet, the Word of God reminds us that our hope is not based on what we see. It is anchored in who God is.

We hold fast not because everything around us is stable, but because God is faithful.

His promises are sure. His Word does not fail. What He has spoken, He will bring to pass.

So even when:

  • circumstances feel uncertain

  • emotions fluctuate

  • answers seem delayed

We choose to stand firm.

We refuse to waver.
We refuse to let go of what God has said.
We refuse to allow doubt to take the place of faith.

Because our confidence is this: He who promised is faithful.

Holding fast to hope means declaring:

I will trust God even when I do not understand
I will believe His Word even when I cannot see the outcome
I will remain steadfast, knowing that God is working behind the scenes

Hope is not passive. It is active, steady, and anchored in faith.

So today, whatever you may be facing, hold fast. Do not loosen your grip. Do not give up. Do not give in.

God is faithful, and His promises will stand.

 Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Help us to hold fast to the hope we have in You. Strengthen our faith so that we will not waver, even in difficult seasons. Give us the same courage and steadfastness as those who have gone before us.

Remind us daily that You are faithful to every promise You have made. Teach us to trust You fully, to stand firm in Your Word, and to remain anchored in hope no matter what we face.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
