March 31: Stepping Into April with Expectation
Stepping Into April with Expectation
Key Text- Psalm 27:13–14
“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
As we step into April, we must pause and reflect:
What is our posture? What is our plan? What is our expectation?
Are we simply drifting through life, taking each day as it comes, or are we intentionally walking in alignment with God’s purpose for our lives?
There are moments when it feels easier to go with the flow and allow life to unfold on its own. However, God has shown us time and time again that there is wisdom in preparation, intentionality in planning, and purpose in seeking His direction. Even as we make our plans, we must remain surrendered, allowing Him to order our steps and redirect us when necessary.
So for April, I declare with confidence and faith:
I shall not faint.
I will not give in to discouragement or weariness.
Instead, I will lift my eyes beyond my circumstances and focus on the One who is my source of help and strength.
Psalm 121:1
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.”
My help comes from the Lord, the One who is constant, faithful, and unchanging.
I believe, with unwavering faith, that I will see the goodness of God manifested in my life. His goodness will not be hidden or distant, but evident and overflowing. His blessings will surround me, sustain me, and remind me daily of His faithfulness.
I choose to trust God in every circumstance, whether I understand it or not. I choose to fully surrender my will, my plans, and my desires to Him, allowing Him to lead me step by step, even when the path is unclear.
As I step into April, I do so with expectation:
That my relationship with God will deepen and grow stronger
That my focus will shift more intentionally toward the things of God
That my anxieties will decrease as I align myself with His will rather than my own plans
I am learning to wait.
Waiting is not something that comes naturally to me, but it is something God is teaching me in this season. Even in the simple, everyday moments, I am reminded of this lesson. My husband often gently encourages me to slow down and be more patient, and I am learning to embrace that process.
Waiting is not a sign of weakness. It is a place of growth. It is in the waiting that God strengthens our hearts, refines our character, and prepares us for what lies ahead.
So my prayer for this month is heartfelt and sincere:
Lord, strengthen my heart in the places where it has been broken.
Teach me to wait with patience, trust, and confidence in You.
The psalmist reminds us that he would have fainted, lost heart, and given up unless he believed he would see the goodness of the Lord. This shows us that expectation is not merely a feeling; it is a deliberate choice to trust God, even when circumstances seem uncertain or delayed.
April may bring challenges, unanswered questions, or unexpected situations. Yet, as the people of God, we do not step into this new month with fear or hesitation. Instead, we step forward with courage, faith, and expectation.
Expectation that:
God is still working behind the scenes
God is still present in every situation
God will reveal His goodness in our lives at the right time
The instruction remains clear and unwavering: wait on the Lord.
Waiting does not mean inactivity or passivity. It means trusting God’s timing, remaining steadfast in faith, and positioning our hearts with courage and confidence.
And God gives us a promise: as we wait, He will strengthen our hearts.
So as we enter April, we boldly declare:
We will not faint
We will not lose heart
We will believe to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
As we step into April, we do so with hearts full of expectation and trust in You. Help us to rely on You even when we cannot see the full picture. Teach us to wait with patience, faith, and confidence in Your perfect timing.
Strengthen our hearts in every place where we feel weak, discouraged, or weary. Let Your goodness be evident in our lives, and remind us daily that You are working on our behalf.
Guide our steps, align our plans with Your will, and help us to remain steadfast in faith throughout this month.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
