March 8: Let God do a New Thing

Key Text: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

Life often tempts us to look back—sometimes with fondness, sometimes with regret. But God’s invitation through Isaiah is clear: release the hold of yesterday, so you can embrace what He’s doing today.
Regardless of what our mind tells us, God is not limited by our past mistakes, failures, or even our greatest achievements. He calls us to look forward with hope, trusting that He is always at work, bringing forth new possibilities and fresh beginnings.
Many years ago, a friend who had made many bad decisions got rebaptized. As we spoke, he beamed with joy and thanked God for second chances. God offers each of us that second, third, fourth, fifth chance. Don't waste your chances—you do not know when it will be your last. The devil is busy at work seeking to devour us, but God wants us to move on to a new thing, something that is better than what we had before, but we can’t move forward while looking back.
God is not limited by our past mistakes, failures, or even our greatest achievements. He calls us to look forward with hope, trusting that He is always at work, bringing forth new possibilities and fresh beginnings.
Is there something in your past that keeps you from stepping into the new things God wants to do in your life? Are you holding onto old disappointments, habits, or even successes that prevent you from seeing God’s fresh work?
Today, ask God to open your eyes and heart to His “new thing.” Surrender the old and invite Him to move in ways you never expected. Trust His promise that, even now, He is making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. God’s new thing is not just for others—it’s for you too.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to let go of the past and make room in my heart for the new things You want to do. Give me courage to trust You and eyes to see Your work unfolding in my life. Amen.
