My Adonai
Adonai is the Lord of all who reigns forever and reveals Himself through covenant in Scripture such as Genesis 15:2, Judges 6:15, Malachi 1:6, and Psalm 97:5.
What a blessed comfort it is to know that God is my Adonai.
I do not have to worry about constancy or consistency because He is eternal. In Genesis 15:2, Abram cries out, “O Lord God, what will You give me…?” showing that even in uncertainty, he recognized God as sovereign and personal. So many times in life, we experience broken relationships and unfulfilled commitments. Plans change, and hope can feel lost in a moment. Yet I hold firmly to this truth that my God reigns forever.
His reign is not distant or passive. In Judges 6:15, Gideon says, “Alas, O Lord God…” in a moment of fear and inadequacy, yet God was present, calling and strengthening him. This reminds me that God is not merely seated on a throne watching from afar. He is not just a supervisor. He is my Protector, my Sustainer, and my ever-present Helper. He is actively working in every stage and moment of my life.
So when fear rises and when I feel dismay, I will not be afraid, for He is my Adonai. Malachi 1:6 reminds us that the Lord is not distant but relational, a Father who deserves honor and reverence. Today, I claim Him again in my life.
I do not have to compare my blessings with others or wonder about my portion. He is mine, and I am His. He will take care of me, and that assurance fills me with hope. Psalm 97:5 declares that even the mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, a powerful reminder that nothing is too great for my Adonai.
Whenever I am bombarded with fear and despair, I have an anchor in my Adonai.
Today, I lift up my heart once more. I ask for forgiveness for the times when I fail to trust Him fully.
As we go throughout today, be not afraid. God is with you. He is our Adonai.
Prayer
My Adonai, Lord of all,
I thank You that You reign forever and that You are present in every moment of my life. Forgive me for the times I doubt, fear, or fail to trust You fully.
Help me to rest in Your sovereignty and to remember that I belong to You. When fear rises, remind me that You are my Protector, my Sustainer, and my ever-present Help.
Today, I choose to trust You again. Lead me, keep me, and fill my heart with peace and hope.
In Your holy name, Amen.
