April 19: I See You But I have An Appointment!
I See You But I have An Appointment!

That morning began with pressure. There was an early appointment, school traffic, and the weight of trying not to be late. The plan was clear. Get to Palm Road Medical by 7:45 a.m. No delays. Yet God had already written a different moment into the journey.
A senior citizen stood near Every Blooming Thing. Visible, yet unseen. Others passed by. There was hesitation because time mattered. But compassion spoke louder, and the decision was made to stop.
What felt like an inconvenience became an invitation.
As the conversation unfolded, his warmth, vulnerability, and health challenges became clear. Then came a turning point. He realized the direction had changed and began to worry. Would this act of kindness cause lateness? Would it cost something?
But faith had already answered.
Trust settled in the truth that God, who orders time itself, had placed this man along the path. Not as a delay, but as a divine assignment. And just as quickly, everything aligned. Traffic cleared, the drop-off was made, and by God’s grace, arrival was still on time.
Scripture reminds us in Epistle to the Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.”
Heaven often disguises itself as interruption.
In Book of Proverbs 16:9, we are told, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
There was a plan, but God had a purpose.
And Book of Psalms 37:23 declares, “The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in their way.”
Even detours are ordered when God is leading.
Finally, Epistle to the Ephesians 4:32 reminds us, “Be kind and compassionate to one another.”
Kindness is never wasted. It always fulfills a kingdom purpose.
That man called the helper an angel. Perhaps he saw something eternal in a simple act of obedience. Or perhaps it was a gentle reminder that when we pause for others, heaven moves with us.
Sometimes we get so busy that we forget
that love is the assignment
that people matter more than schedules
that God’s timing is never threatened by obedience
Sometimes God takes us off our route so that
someone else can make it safely on theirs
our faith can be stretched
His glory can be revealed in the ordinary
I knew it was not me. It was God. I just wanted to reach my appointment.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that Your plans are higher than our schedules. Help us to see interruptions as invitations and delays as divine appointments. Give us hearts that are sensitive to Your leading and hands that are willing to serve. Teach us to trust that when we walk in obedience, You will take care of every detail.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
