April 2: Do Not Let Go of My Hand

KEY TEXT“For I the Lord your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”  Isaiah 41:13

Many times we start out good, but our priorities get twisted along the way.

There is a journey each of us has to take in this life, and deep down we know we cannot make it on our own. So we begin right, we call on God and say, “Lord, take my hand and walk with me.” And He does. He comes close, He leads, He guides, and step by step the journey begins to feel steady. Things start falling into place, doors open, and we see progress. We feel peace, we feel confident, and everything seems to be going well.

But quietly, without even noticing, something begins to shift. Little by little we start to loosen our grip. Not all at once, but gently. We begin to feel like we understand now, like we are strong now, like we can manage.

And though we may not say it out loud, our hearts begin to whisper, “I’ve got this.”

And that is where the danger lies. Because the moment we reach that place, we are in trouble. It was never our strength that carried us. It was never our wisdom that made the way clear. It was always God, holding our hand, guiding every step along the way. He has never let go of us, not for one moment. But we are the ones who loosen our grip.

And life has a way of reminding us. A sudden turn, an unexpected challenge, and we realize again how much we still need Him. True strength is not found in walking without God, but in never letting go of His hand. So even when things are going well, even when you feel confident, even when the road seems clear, hold on. Stay close. Stay dependent. Because this journey was never meant to be walked alone, and the safest place you can ever be is with your hand in His.

Prayer

Lord, keep me close to You. When I begin to feel strong on my own, remind me that I still need You. Teach me to hold on to Your hand in every season and never drift away from Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
