April 21: A New Day, A New Grace
Key
Text: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory
in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Have you ever noticed how people
light up when mango season comes around? Julie mango, East Indian, Number 11,
Black mango—everybody has a favorite. At practice, school, or after church,
somebody always has a bag to share. Some people eat theirs right away. Others
save it to make juice, or to relax and eat later.
But here’s the thing about mango
season—it always comes with flies. Just when you’re enjoying your mango,
here they come buzzing around, trying to steal your focus. They’re annoying,
distracting, and just won’t leave you alone. Still, most of us aren’t about to
drop our mango just because of them.
Life with Jesus can feel like that.
When you decide to grow closer to
God—pray more, read your Bible, live right that’s when temptations show up. Distractions start buzzing: social media,
friends’ opinions, pressure to fit in, things that pull you away from God. They
don’t always look big or dangerous; sometimes they’re just annoying little
things that slowly steal your attention.
The apostle Paul understood this. He
talked about a “thorn in his flesh”—something difficult he wished God
would remove. Paul prayed. He begged. But the thorn stayed. Eventually, Paul
realized it wasn’t there to destroy him but to keep him humble and dependent on God.
God reminded Paul, and He reminds us,
that His grace is enough. We
don’t have to be perfect, strong, or have everything figured out. God’s power
shines brightest when we admit our
weakness and lean on Him.
So, when distractions come buzzing,
when life feels uncomfortable, or when you feel like you’re struggling—remember
this: God is still working. Don’t drop your “mango” just because a fly
shows up. Stay focused. Stay connected. God’s grace will carry you through
today and His grace is new every morning.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your grace that
is more than enough. Help me stay focused on You when distractions come my way.
Teach me to trust You even in my weaknesses. Amen.
