March 8: Rooted In His Love
Ephesians 3:17
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.”
Recently I had two mature plantain trees in my yard. When the weather forecast warned of heavy winds, we decided to secure the plants with supports to help hold them up. Soon the winds came and they were ferocious. The trees rocked back and forth, swaying to and fro as the wind pushed against them.
But they did not fall.
Because they had support, the trees remained standing.
Watching this reminded me of Ephesians 3:17, which speaks about being rooted and grounded in love.
Just like those plantain trees needed support during the storm, our lives need a foundation that can hold us steady when the winds of life begin to blow.
His love becomes the foundation that keeps us strong.
In life the winds will come. There will be seasons of uncertainty, fear, and unexpected challenges. Circumstances may rock us from side to side, just like the wind rocked those trees. But when our hearts are rooted in Christ and grounded in His love, we are not easily uprooted.
We may sway, but we will not fall.
The storms of life remind us that strength does not come from ourselves. Our stability comes from the love of God that anchors our hearts and keeps us standing even when everything around us feels unsettled.
And just like those plantain trees held firm in the wind, those who are rooted in Christ will stand through every storm.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your love that keeps us rooted and grounded in You. Just as the trees stand firm in the wind, help us to stand strong when the storms of life come. When we are shaken by challenges, remind us that Your love is the foundation that holds us steady.
Let Christ dwell in our hearts and keep us anchored in faith, so that no matter how strong the winds blow, we will remain standing in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
