Key Text: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
Before going to the hospital for the procedure, there was a responsibility to lead the Adventist Youth Programme at church. During the service, there was a signal given to Elder Kenugh Thomas of the Kings Seventh-day Adventist Church to conduct the vespers segment. As he prepared to pray, there was a quiet but clear prompting to ask him to pray about the upcoming appointment.
There was hesitation. It felt personal and easier to keep private. Yet the prompting did not leave. It grew stronger, and in obedience, the request was made. In that moment, something shifted. Others began stepping forward and asking for prayer as well. What started as a private struggle became a shared moment of intercession. It was a gentle reminder that no one walks alone.
Days later, while sitting in the waiting room, there was quiet prayer and deep reflection. Then, unexpectedly, two church sisters appeared. One immediately invited prayer right there in the waiting room, and it was accepted without hesitation. After sharing what had happened during the reassessment, there was a moment of praise and gratitude for God’s deliverance.
This experience reveals a powerful truth. There is no shame in asking for prayer. There is no shame in being vulnerable. There is power when the people of God come together in faith and intercede for one another.
Often, the enemy desires silence, fear encourages privacy, and pride promotes isolation. Yet God calls His people into community. This moment was not only about the experience itself, but about obedience, vulnerability, and shared faith. When the request for prayer was made in church, it opened the door for others. When prayer was accepted in the waiting room, it became a covering. When the testimony was shared, it strengthened the faith of those who heard it.
This is how God moves. He prompts; there is hesitation. He presses again; there is obedience, and then He acts.
Scripture reminds us in the Epistle to the Galatians 6:2 that we are called to carry one another’s burdens. This is not simply a suggestion but a reflection of Christ’s love in action. Even Jesus prayed for His disciples, showing that intercession is an act of care, covering, and spiritual responsibility. That same power is still at work today.
A breakthrough is often connected to the willingness to be covered in prayer. What is carried alone can become lighter when shared in faith, because God designed healing to happen in community.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of spiritual family. Thank You for the prayers that cover me when my strength feels small. Help me not to let fear silence my need for prayer. Teach me to be bold in my vulnerability and faithful in intercession. Thank You for surrounding me with people who stand in the gap on my behalf.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
