May 6 : God is working in the Silence

by: Camile Beckford Johnson

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:28 (NKJV)  "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

In a world that often values noise and busyness, silence can be a sanctuary for those who seek deeper connection with God. For women who have set boundaries and prefer reflection over conversation, the quiet moments can be where God’s presence is most profoundly felt. Romans 8:28 reassures us that God is actively working in our lives, even when we are enveloped in silence.

Reflection:
Silence can be a powerful teacher. It is in these still moments that we can hear the gentle whispers of God’s love and guidance. For those of us who may not always feel comfortable expressing ourselves verbally, the silence offers a space to process our thoughts and emotions. It is here that we can truly reflect on our lives and the ways God is moving, even when we cannot see it.

Consider the times you have felt alone or uncertain. In those moments, it is easy to feel as though God is distant. However, the truth is that He is working behind the scenes, weaving together the threads of our lives for our good. Just as a tapestry is created through careful and deliberate stitching, God is crafting a beautiful story through our experiences, both spoken and unspoken.

Cultivate Quiet Time: Set aside intentional moments of silence each day. Use this time to meditate on God’s Word, allowing His promises to fill your heart and mind.

Journal Your Thoughts: Writing can be a powerful way to process your feelings and reflections. Consider keeping a journal where you can express your thoughts about God’s work in your life, especially during silent moments.

Trust in His Plan: When you feel the weight of uncertainty, remind yourself that God is in control. Reflect on how He has worked in your past and trust that He is still at work today, even if you cannot see the full picture.

As you navigate your day, remember that God is actively working in the silence. Embrace these moments as opportunities for growth and connection, trusting that He is always present, shaping your journey with love and purpose.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of silence and the opportunity to connect with You in a deeper way. Help me to embrace the quiet moments and to trust that You are working all things together for my good. May I find peace in knowing that Your plans for me are perfect, even when I cannot see them. Guide me as I reflect on Your Word and draw closer to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
