July 9: Standing on His Promises
Standing on His Promises
Usually, when I am asked how I am doing, I often respond, "God is good."
Truth be told, there are times when we are not really doing as well as we appear. There are days when we are tired, discouraged, overwhelmed, or uncertain. Yet, in those moments, we are standing on the promises of God.
When I face trials and difficulties, I am assured that I can overcome because God has promised:
"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5, KJV).
I do ponder about the future at times. I wonder how things will work out and what lies ahead. But God has assured me:
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end" (Jeremiah 29:11, KJV).
I find myself around various personalities, situations, and different vibes that can sometimes be draining or unsettling. But God's Word reminds me:
"For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield" (Psalm 5:12, KJV).
The Lord surrounds His children with His favor and protection. He forms a hedge around us that the enemy cannot penetrate without His permission.
This day, I want to assure someone that the promises of Jesus are sure. They are not empty words or wishful thinking. They are steadfast, unchanging, and trustworthy.
So, if today you are weary, stand on His promise.
If today you are uncertain about tomorrow, stand on His promise.
If today you feel alone, misunderstood, or surrounded by negativity, stand on His promise.
God has never failed, and He will not start with you.
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent" (Numbers 23:19, KJV).
Whatever you are facing today, stand firm on His Word, because His promises are still "Yea and Amen" in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your precious promises that sustain us through every season of life. When we are weak, remind us of Your strength. When we are uncertain, remind us of Your plans. When we feel alone, remind us of Your presence. Help us to stand firmly on Your Word, knowing that every promise You have spoken will come to pass. In Jesus' name, Amen.
