July 11: Rising After I "Dropped"
Rising After Disappointment
Key Text: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.” Micah 7:8 (KJV)
Have you ever observed a baby or a small child falling to the ground? They often look around to see who saw them fall. If they do not see anyone, they usually get up and move on, seemingly unbothered. However, the moment they realise someone is watching, that is often when they begin to cry and become more aware of the fall.
This experience aligns with my own life. There have been moments when I have fallen into disappointment, failure, or discouragement. At times, I was able to rise quietly and keep moving. Yet, there have also been moments when I became aware of others watching, judging, or even waiting for me to fail. In those moments, the weight of the fall felt heavier, and the disappointment felt deeper.
However, Micah 7:8 reminds me that my fall is not my end. The verse declares, “when I fall, I shall arise.” This gives me confidence that no matter how visible or painful the fall may be, I am not defined by it. I have the assurance that I can get back up.
The verse also speaks about sitting in darkness, which reflects those seasons where disappointment lingers and hope feels distant. Yet, even there, it promises that the Lord will be a light. This means that even when others are watching, even when I feel exposed or discouraged, God is present to guide me out.
Just like the child who eventually rises again, I am reminded that falling is part of the journey, but remaining down is not my portion. With God’s help, I can rise after disappointment, stand with renewed strength, and continue moving forward with confidence.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me through Bible Micah 7:8 that even when I fall, I will rise again. Help me not to be discouraged by disappointment or by those who may be watching. When I feel weak or overwhelmed, be my light and lift me up. Give me strength to stand, courage to move forward, and faith to trust You in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
