Blessed Assurance

Key Text

Hebrews 10:22–23 (NKJV)

"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith… Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

"Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine"

"Blessed Assurance" has deeply blessed my life because it speaks of a personal relationship with God. The words, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine," remind me of the confidence we have as sinners saved by grace. There is great comfort in knowing that Jesus is mine and I am His.

This hymn also reminds me that, even in our imperfection, we can still praise God and rejoice in His salvation. We do not need to be perfect to receive His love. His grace meets us where we are and gives us hope, joy, and a reason to worship.

The third verse is especially meaningful:

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

These words remind us that despite life's challenges and uncertainties, true rest is found in surrendering fully to God. Perfect submission does not remove our problems, but it gives us peace because we trust the One who holds our lives.

The hymn also calls us to keep "watching and waiting, looking above," fixing our eyes on Jesus rather than our struggles. This is a beautiful way to live, filled with His goodness and resting in His love.

Hebrews 10:22–23 reflects the message of "Blessed Assurance." Our confidence is not based on ourselves or our circumstances, but on God's faithfulness. Because He is faithful, we can trust Him, rest in Him, and live with hope as we await the fulfillment of His promises.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the blessed assurance we have in Jesus Christ. Thank You that even in our weakness, Your grace sustains us and Your love never fails. Help us to rest in the truth that we belong to You and Jesus is ours.

Teach us to live in surrender to Your will, laying every worry and burden at Your feet. When life feels uncertain, help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, watching and waiting with hope.

Fill our hearts with Your goodness and draw us deeper into Your love. Strengthen our faith so we may hold fast to our hope, trusting fully in Your faithfulness.

We praise You for the assurance that in Christ we are safe, loved, and held forever.

In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen.

I was partially laid up with a broken ankle, having just shattered my beautiful flowerpot. At the same time, vacuuming, and then, minutes later, discovered that my unlocked car had been ransacked during the night. I glanced at my husband resting on the sofa.
